ISLAND SCRUB-JAY Aphelocoma insularis
17 Aug 1992 on Santa Cruz I., SBA

The ISLAND SCRUB-JAY is a fairy common resident on Santa Cruz Island in the California Channel Islands. I have an entire page on-line about identification of scrub-jays; see it for details of both identification and taxonomy.

All my California records have been of birds within their usual range on Santa Cruz Island. My first was 17 Aug 1992 (photo above).
