SEEN BUT NOT YET PHOTOGRAPHED IN CALIFORNIA

The ROSEATE SPOONBILL is a rare vagrant in California occurring mostly during unpredictable incursions like the 70 birds in 1973 and 28 individuals in 1977. Most occurrence are around the Salton Sea in summer or fall. During invasion years a few many wander to the s. & c. California coast.

My personal Roseate Spoonbill records:

6/12/77    Unit 1, Salton Sea NWR, south end Salton Sea IMP    3 birds
