During my "ode year" in 2007, I visited Picayune Lake at 6100' elevation in the extreme northeast corner of Trinity County. I was recently advised (2014) that the lake and the entire forest block [section 23 on USFS map] is privately owned and not open to the public. According, I have withdrawn directions and details related to this site. Observers should check other alpine lakes in Trinity County at this elevation that are on public lands. Species such as Mountain Emerald may be seen, often in flight, over such lakes (below).
