The only odes seen on this brief visit were at Waro Lake, well north on North Is., and the only one photographed was this tiny red damsel (above) Xanthocnemis zealandica [Common Redcoat Damsel]. A dragonfly seen in flight over that lake may have been Hemicordulia australiae [Australian Emerald]. The tip to visit this spot, and the identifications, were proposed by Detlef Davies.
